Middle School Football Wins First Game of The Season

The Scheck Hillel middle school boys football team defeated Boca Christian 20-14, Tuesday, October 16.
In their first win of the season the Lions had a lot of players contribute noteworthy plays. During the first play of the game for the Blazers, Hillel eighth-grader Abraham Klainbaum made a key tackle that forced a fumble which was recovered by eighth-grader Adam Sananes.

That play set up the Lions' first touchdown of the game and second for the season.  Their classmate Jonathan Bacal scored about a 50-yard touchdown off a pass from quarterback Michael Stiberman who also completed the two point conversion to give the Lions a 8-0 lead.

Offensively the Lions dominated during the first half of the game. They took a 20-8 lead going into the half with two more touchdowns from eighth-grader Daniel Brown. The team ran the ball well including a few double digit plays by eighth-graders Klainbaum and Max Klinger. Bacal and seventh-grader Nolan Senker also ran the ball for Hillel.

On the defensive side of the ball the Lions also dominated the playing field. Senker blocked a punt that was recovered by eighth-grader Eli Goldin. Klainbaum, Tamir and Brown each grabbed an interception in the win.

Eighth-grader Samuel Attias broke up a pass in the endzone and numerous players made tackles to include eighth-graders Elie Golden (4) Gabriel Ades (3), Sananes (2), Jacob Shaked (2), Attias (2), Klainbaum (1), Bacal (1) and Klinger (1). Senker also added a tackle in the mix.

The Lions will play their final game of the season at Palmer Trinity, Wednesday, October 24. Kick off starts at 4:30PM.
